i came across one article from today's newspaper, titled as 'Hospital review apt in costly times', mentioned that removal of the fish bone stuck in the throat cost RM 3000 in one of the private hospitals. wah! for sure the patient would be choked again the the amount paid just for that tiny miny fish bone...
yes, it is way too expensive...
here, there is another true story.
not long ago. ehhmmm, just two days back. i got a patient came to my locum clinic after being injured by the ceiling fan. he sustained two superficial laceration wounds over the forehead and left temporal region of the kepala...
to cut the story short, i did suturing to this patient. a total of 14 stitches over the kelapa... and of course, the small boy was shouting and screaming for pain...
job done... and guess what, total bill is RM 560.00.
what, RM560!!!
as for clarification, i do not involved over the bills. the clinic in-charge will decide the amount of charges for the patient all the while. so for the locum doctor, i just see the patient...
but, why is it so much???
according from my nurse, these include the charges of 14 stitches (which i did one), the medications (injection and take home one), and the two-view Xrays.
do you think all the private sector will charge like this ah???
it really sounds like a blood-sucker...
what if this patient just has it done in the government hospital, he will just need to pay less the RM5 or even free, for student, for the same service. see! this is a huge amount of difference. but with the same service... because hoh, the same people are doing the things too. just that different people get the earning.
back to the story,
how much did i get for my service?
NO, nothing extra... ceh!
====================================================================================
it has been an issue of the public for the enormous charges from the private health care sector. but then hoh, it seems that the in-charge one (of course our government) cant penetrate the problem for many many years... once a while, they (again, the government) will announce something, just like lip-playing game, talk only but no action taken after.
so here we are, back to square one...
solution...
kindly please refer to my superior... (my tua-tau-keh, government lah!)
woahahaha!
